Music Video Idea #1

My first idea for a music video is a song called slacklife by Andy Lewis. The thing which makes it different is that Andy Lewis is not a musical performer, instead he is the best slackliner in the world, therefor it is hard to identify his star image in term of music.

His song is about something which is called Slacklife, Lewis's definition of it is this:

“A concept adopted by slackliners who live a life consistently and continually inspired by slacklining. Slacklining is not considered a sport by society. There is no slackline magazine. There are no set rules. No set definitions. No standardized equipment. No statistics. Most importantly, there are no true professionals. In fact there is pretty much no reason to slackline except for the sake of slacklining itself. That is the slacklife. Rules and regulations involved in the habitual and ridiculous effort to remove RISK entirely from society has made living the slacklife inside of society damn near impossible. Liability and insurance are the two words crippling the sport of slacklining today. “Slackers,” living the “slacklife,” instead; travel the globe in search of the most inspiring places to practice slacklining. Tricklining, longlining, highlining, and free solo are all separate facets of slacklining. Training all of these facets is an incredibly positive way to stay physically and mentally fit. This training is becoming a pseudo-religion amongst the community of slackliners; otherwise called the “slacklife.” Living in the moment, being immersed in the wilderness, challenging your body, developing your mind, confronting, controlling, and conquering one’s fear of death, and pursuing the pure, true, and honest unbridled feeling of freedom to do what you want is the foundation supporting the Slacklife.”

Therefor considering his definition of slacklife in mind my idea for a music video is a narrative. A bunch of young teens (not sure how many) are skateboarding/long-boarding. This is where we can use the GoPro and other similar equipment. Also being shots of them walking through the forest. Once finding a good place setting up a slackline, doing tricks and this sort of things. Its hard to properly explain the narrative but I think storyboarding it will make it alot clearer. My idea is to have a sort of montage- kind of like the Rudimental video but the song is more relaxed and embraces slacklife.

The type of video i want to do is similar to the one by Simple Plan called Summer Paradise. Although the music is more acoustic - not as pop sounding. A group of
young looking people- hanging out and having fun. But the video involves the singers singing along to there lyrics and I think that for this song it wont suit that style of video so much. Its hard to find another song similar to slacklife or of a singer to find the same type of star image as    Andy Lewis because of the fact that he is not an actual preformer although I think this music video is closest showing to the idea that I have for my coursework.
