Kyle Cooper Title Sequence Analysis

Se7en

In my opinion the title sequence of se7en is uncomfortable to watch.  The music creates this industrial type psychopath feeling which synchronies with the images being shown. We see things like pages being turned, somebody writing, rusty old looking needles, a dirty pair of hands, deformed pictures of things being cut etc. This is then constantly crosscutting with the names of the actors in the scene with a scratchy small font. Only very boring colours are used such as black, whites, beiges and greys and then quickly flashes of bright red come in which can signify danger. From the way the title sequence is done it suggests that the film could be a psychological thriller because of the uncomfortable feeling that it gives you but at the same time you want to watch more.

Panic Room

The opening title sequence of the film Panic Room is started with the sound of a busy city, police sirens going off and the sounds of traffic. Then the kind of dark menacing music starts at a fast pace, together with the sound of the busy city suggesting a rushed atmosphere. The names of the actors are then shown alongside buildings which I think work nicely. The rushed atmosphere is then empathized with the ticking of a loud clock.
